The Department of Multicultural Ministry celebrates and supports the many culturally diverse parish communities of the Diocese of Trenton, working to establish an environment of welcome, provide a variety of resources and promote awareness of the richness cultural diversity brings to the Church.

Multicultural Liaison Council
A Multicultural Liaison Council has been convened by Bishop O’Connell with appointed representatives from each of the major cultural groups within the diocese. With the support of the Council, the Department of Multicultural Ministry will bring attention to the most pressing needs and concerns of the various cultural communities, and will assist parishes and diocesan offices as they address the needs that are identified. Parishioners of our diocese who wish to speak with a diocesan representative regarding one of our cultural communities may call the Director of the Department of Multicultural Ministry (see ‘contact us’) who which in turn will contact the appropriate liaison.
The bishop-appointed liaisons for each of our diocesan cultural communities are as follows:
- Haitian Community: Father Pierre-Michel Alabré
Although the Haitian Center is closing effective July 1, 2012,
the Catholic ministry to the Haitian Community will continue,
and is simply moving to a parish-based outreach at:

The Department of Multicultural Ministry web page will contain information that may:
- help newcomers to the diocese find schedules for Masses offered in languages other-than-English
- promote programs and activities that support and celebrate multicultural diversity
- announce events that facilitate intercultural exchange
- list resources on multicultural ministry which are available for parish ministry leaders to borrow
- provide resources and links to organizations pertaining to cultural diversity in the church
