Advocacy for Catholics with disABILITIES

The Diocese of Trenton upholds the dignity of all God's children while we actively strive to promote acceptance, accessibility and inclusion of persons with disABILITIES within our faith communities.

Are you seeking guidance and resources for a person with acquired or developmental disabilities? Janis Bell, M Ed., diocesan Advocate for Persons with disABILITIES welcomes your calls. Please contact her at the Department of Pastoral Care, 609-403-7194 or jbell@dioceseoftrenton.org.

How can we help?

  • Do your parents with acquired disabilities experience difficulties when attending Mass and church functions?
  • Does your child require special help in order to attend religious education classes?
  • Is your adult child with intellectual disabilities seeking employment?
  • Are you a parent of a person with disabilities seeking a support group?

The Resource Circle

is made up of representatives from each office that has direct responsibility for serving Catholics with disABILITIES: catechesis, schools, worship, pastoral care, family life. They coordinate responses, share information and troubleshoot issues.

The Focus Group

is made up of community leaders who have reached out to the Advocate for Catholics with DisABILITIES for a resource and guidance

These are just a few of the possible needs and concerns that face persons with disabilities and their families. The Diocese of Trenton is dedicated to assisting persons with disABILITIES and their family members to make connections leading to full participation in the life of the Church.

We are striving for accessibility, inclusion, acceptance...recognizing the gifts of persons with disABILITIES.
