Office of Pastoral Planning

The diocesan Office of Pastoral Planning initiates and coordinates a planning process under the direction of the diocesan Bishop.
The office works to
- establish diocesan goals
- help develop appropriate objectives in each area of curial responsibility
- resource and support those responsible for reaching these objectives

Pastoral planning engages clergy, religious, and lay leaders at both the diocesan and parish level in a process that is rooted in prayer and focused on the mission of the Church. The process involves listening and consultation, needs assessment, discernment and dialogue, identification of appropriate resources, planning, implementation, and ongoing evaluation.
The purpose of pastoral planning is to grow in our ability, as Church, to serve the mission of Christ into the future. The Office of Pastoral Planning will staff and support planning efforts at the diocesan and parish levels, and provide a variety of training and resource materials, in order to assist in the implementation of the Vision of a Vibrant Parish articulated by Bishop John M. Smith in 1999.
