Parish Family Day benefits Kasana-Luweero Clinic

When Joseph Kiernan of Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, West Trenton, met Sister Ernestina Akulu from the Diocese of Kasana-Luweero in Uganda Oct. 22 in the Diocesan Pastoral Center, he had something special to give her.
Because of the hard work and generosity of many people, Kiernan was able to present Sister Ernestina a check for $6,000 for the Bishop Asili

Health Clinic in Luweero. The check represented the proceeds from the Sept. 25 Parish Family Day, said Kiernan, who was chairman of the event.
Father Ralph Stansley, pastor of Our Lady of Good Counsel, said the day was an occasion to celebrate "one another as a community of faith" and to expand the parish's tradition of outreach "that has so generously served charities and individuals in need in our parish and throughout the Trenton area."

Since 2001, when the Trenton
Diocese and the Diocese of Kasana-Luweero in Uganda joined in a Global Solidarity partnership under the aegis of Catholic Relief Services, groups from the two dioceses have exchanged visits to learn about each other.
Sister Ernestina, along with Father Joseph Kakooza, Moses Aisia and Evelyn Nassuna are currently visiting the diocese from Oct. 20 to Nov. 3.
