Catechist Certification - Auxillary Catechist Formation
Auxiliary Catechist Certification is awarded to high school students who complete a process of formation which approximates the diocesan catechist certification process. Auxiliary certification is given to enable the young person to acquire the foundation they need to assist a catechist in a parish religious education program.
Currently the Catholic Secondary Schools within the Diocese of Trenton are able to offer the formation which will enable juniors or seniors to qualify for diocesan Auxiliary Catechist Certification in one of three ways:
- Offering a Catechist Certification course taught by a qualified master catechist
- Offering an elective course which includes key catechetical components taught by a qualified master catechist
- Offering a mini- course in catechetical theory and praxis taught by a qualified master catechist in conjunction with participation by the student in service to a local parish catechetical program as a catechist?s aid.
