Adult Faith Formation (A.F.F.)
The ministry of Adult Faith Formation serves to foster further conversion, catechesis, and discipleship for adult Catholics through various formation, training, and catechetical programs and events. Through Adult Faith Formation, the lay faithful will discover the importance and joy of an ongoing life of prayer and faithfulness to the Gospel, a discovery that will enable lay adults to become the salt and light of the earth and to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
In Adult Faith Formation, the adult Catholic seeks, in conjunction with catechesis, prayer, and service, in one’s vocation in marriage and family life or the single life, in the workplace, and in the public square, to continue on the path of the pilgrim in the way of perfection and holiness. Recognizing that true and eternal joy is from our Triune, loving God alone, the adult Catholic strives to deepen his or her faith and devotion in learning from Christ and his Church, in better conforming to his commandments, in encountering Christ in the sacraments, and in serving the Church and others through the works of mercy.
To begin your own process of formation as a Catholic adult, please consult your parish pastoral staff and religious education office for opportunities. Please see the ‘Adult Faith Formation Resources’ page on the right sidebar for some helpful tools in beginning this formation either individually or with others. However, always keep in mind that what constitutes the foundation and heart of formation – both for adults and children – are the basics of our Catholic faith (Holy Mass, the sacraments, prayer, and service) committed to with sincere devotion, humility, constancy, and love.
